A wireframe is a highly simplified sketch of the important content on a web page or software interface. The word wireframe derives from the English language and means wire model. A wire model or wireframe is the basic element used to produce a sculpture. The same principle can be applied to wireframes in web design. They describe how information and functions are arranged. The advantage of using wireframes within the user-centered design process is that user feedback can already be gathered with the first visualized ideas. Further, modifications can be made early and at low costs. Visual design, the addition of colors and pictures, regularly only happens at the end of the design process.
