With an usability expert analysis (expert review) you reveal typical usability problems of a product, in e.g. a website. In this analytical evaluation method, at least two usability experts assess and analyze the website independently from each other. The combination of different well-founded scientific methods guarantees high-quality results of the analysis.
Heuristic evaluation
Our experts examine the product based on so-called heuristics.
These heuristics describe essential characteristics that the product should combine and represent to guarantee users an effective, efficient and satisfying experience when using the product. Deviations from these "rules" are defined as usability problems and will be structured by their degree of severity.
Some examples for typical heuristics:
- user-oriented language (wording)
- consistency and standards
- error prevention
- recognition
- comprehensible help and documentation
Cognitive walkthrough
In this scientific method, the usability expert completes typical
user tasks (e.g. an ordering process) on a website. At the same time, they analyze whether the product is conform to usability
standards and conventions and in how far deviations represent an actual problem in the context
of use (heuristic evaluation).
Usability analysis and usability test
Unlike in a usability test with user participation more scenarios can be played through during an usability analysis. From our experience we can assure that the combination of usability analysis and usability test will deliver comprehensive results of high-quality.
Result
The disclosed usability problems or findings will be collected, discussed and prioritized dependent on their degree of severity.
You will receive a comprehensible report containing the revealed usability findings and specified recommendations and solutions. This document represents a detailed guideline for you and your partners who are going to revise and optimize your product.
